Labor Management Health Care Coalition Programs

Union HealthShare

Union HealthShare offers Health Reimbursement Arrangements (HRAs) utilizing a union branded Visa card. The solution allows unions to own their data, as well as to produce detailed reports on aggregated data from many unions. This helps to keep your members healthy and saves significant money on healthcare at the same time.

Major challenges for Locals facing exponentially rising healthcare costs include substantial out of pocket increases and data dependency. Data regarding healthcare services and spending can be used to identify cost containment areas and programs that will benefit members and help lower costs for the plan. Currently, this data is controlled by health plans and outside advisors. This situation creates a strong dependency.

Union HealthShare offers a 4 part solution to these challenges:

  • 1. Triple Tax-Advantaged HRA - A Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA) allows Locals to provide funds to pay healthcare expenses with a triple tax-advantage (deposits, growth and health care spending.) The savings for a family can be as much as $1,000 per year.

  • 2. Management Tools for the HRA – State of the art HRA online management tools allow union members access to account views, claims filing and educational links.

  • 3. Branded Health Card – The Health Card provides union members with a streamlined healthcare payment experience and is branded with their own Local’s image.

  • 4. The Data Vault - The UHSData Vault is a secure repository of aggregated member-based health data from multiple sources. This data is owned by the union and can be compared with data from other unions, both locally and nationwide, to provide a view of the Local’s healthcare spending with a broader perspective than is available when only looking at an individual Local’s data.
